I have been working out religiously for the past 3 years or so. I am not bragging, but I always considered myself an athlete, or athletic, strong, etc. And just take a look at some high school pictures of me and I AM BIG. BIG MUSCLES,,,not attractive really.
Fast forward a few years, (does one even COUNT college?) HA!! And before I knew it, I was 23 and pregnant. I gained 76 pounds with Tatum, and then 53 pounds with Dalton; point being that's rough on the body. I handled the recovery okay, lost most of the weight over time, but now at the Dirty 30, I can see that I am working TEN times harder at looking good, and maybe it's old age just catching up with me. Today I did 30 minutes of HARD resistance on the elliptical, 20 minutes spinning, then lifted with a trainer. It felt good, but it was hard work. I like a challenge. My challenge is to look better than I have in my whole life, or at least be in the best shape possible. I have some work to do, but I am dedicated.
I am also realistic, I don't always WANT to be, but the bottom line is I am NOT Heidi Klum, gorgeous and 6 feet tall. Just wasn't in the genetics. So I have to work with what I have, embrace the curves (and there are MANY of them), and be okay with this one and only body I have.
I fell victim to society's views on beauty and a lot of us girls have at one point, but I realized a LONG time ago, no one thinks Ashly and Mary Kate Olsen look anything but hungry and tired, and that's just not the way to live.
More importantly, I have a daughter that I want to raise to have a healthy self image, and THAT is the most important thing to me. Oh, I also want her to know that Brunettes DO have more fun,,,just ask her mama :)
Happy Friday!
Is this thing still working?
